Memories A Gokudera Hayato oneshot Theme: Angst. A whole bucket of angst. And TYL!. And attempts. Basically, just read the story. Prompt: “I do... you know by the time you figure it out, it really could be too late.” ~ Sara Sidle, CSI When you’re a fourteen-year-old whose obsession seems to stay with a wimpy kid who saved you one time, you’re blind to everything else, even the girl who nearly died protecting your sorry life, even if it means that she can have a chance of not seeing another ray of sunlight ever again. But when you have ten years of maturing, you’ll eventually see it, yourself, even if she already gave up. “Gokudera-kun, can I ask a favor?” The Tenth Vongola Boss, Sawada Tsunayoshi, approached his Right-Hand Man in his office, while the silver-haired man was arranging some paperwork for the Boss. “A-ah? Oh, Juudaime. Sure, anything for you!” The brown-haired Boss handed over a sealed brown envelope to Gokudera, which the man didn’t inquire at first, but the stamp on it that screamed “TOP SECRET” was something that meant that it was urgent, and not some fuddy duddy messenger role for Gokudera. “Please deliver that to Midori-san. It’s kind of urgent, so, can you do it in the shortest span of time?” Midori-san, huh. Tsuna, in his fourteen-year-old self, used to call Sora by her first name, and a “-san” in the end. That showed that they were comrades in the informal fashion, that they were friends. Like everybody else that Tsuna eventually met. When Sora assumed the full duty of the Scintilla Boss years ago, she wanted to be professionally called as “Miss Midori”, but Tsuna was adamant to call her as “Midori-san”. That brought back some sort of flashback to Gokudera. How long was it that she stopped with all the pranks and the amusements she always enjoyed as a fourteen-year-old? How long was it when she became serious, and she left every bit of the childish tendencies she had and became a Boss that was expected of her? And why, for all these years, has she never gone back to the way she was, the Sora that Gokudera knew, the Sora that he was irritated with, the Sora that he learned to like? “Of course, Juudaime!” “Good! Oh, have you seen Hibari-san? I have to talk to him about something.” The bomber’s face was as similar to as a poker face, as his features betrayed no extreme emotion, unlike when he was fourteen. Things really changed in the span of ten years. “I think Yamamoto knows. You could ask him, Juudaime. I think he’s in the lounge.” “Thanks Gokudera! Oh, and don’t forget to send that to Midori-san!” With Tsuna leaving his office in a hurry, Gokudera grabbed the coat that hung idly by the coat rack near his door. With a slight huff of breath, he left the Vongola Headquarters of Namimori and used his car to travel to Shizuoka, where the Scintilla’s Base in Japan was settled. Even if it was raining hard, Gokudera thanked it, because not many cars were on the road. The downpour was so hard, some people refured to go outside, even while using their cars. Gokudera sped to Shizuoka, and within the day, he was able to park in front of the Scintilla’s Headquarters, nestled on a land overlooking the vast sea, where a guard welcomed his arrival, as he was expected, and Kaminari was waiting at the door. The exquisitely-carved mahogany door greeted Gokudera warmly, as the red-haired Lightning Guardian of Scintilla waved at Gokudera upon his arrival. Holding out an umbrella for Gokudera, she led him to the lobby. “How was the trip, Gokudera-kun?” “Wet.” A chuckle from Nari. “So, I assume Tsuna-kun sent you because of the thing So- Midori asked?” “Yeah.” “Could you deliver it to her office? It’s at the third floor. Right wing. The door has a Sky Flame on it as a marker. I need to take care of some stuff first.” “Sure.” “Thanks Gokudera-kun!” The silver-haired Storm Guardian of Vongola wandered about the halls, climbing the flight of stairs that divided to the sides. Following Nari’s directions, he ended up in front of Sora’s office, where the door was closed. Sure enough, a Sky Flame marked the door. Gokudera knocked three times at the door, before hearing Sora’s voice from the inside of the room. “Come in.” The man didn’t waste any time, at all. As soon as the permission was given, he immediately stepped inside, to get this over with. Instead, he regretted everything, from accepting the “mailman job” to stepping inside the office of the Boss of one of the most primal Families in the Mafia World. Inside the window-adorned room, with its military-green curtains and carpet, the peach-colored walls and the myriad of things in the room such as a big desk, a cushioned chair, several drawers with some kind of files in them, stood the very woman that Gokudera never saw for the past ten years. The girl that he ignored, the girl that he was irritated with, the girl who seems to be a leech that never left his side and continuously “tortured” him like Uri, and the same girl that saved his life. Something was different, though; she was not the vibrant, easygoing girl she used to be. Her messy hair, which she always adorned with clips and headbands, was not pulled up to a ponytail, which gave her whole silhouette a professional look, along with a professional attire that was so far away from the skirts and the turtleneck tops she used to wear. Is this really the Midori Sora that existed in Namimori ten years ago? Yet her face was so concealed from Gokudera. It’s as if she didn’t want him to see how she looked now. Her back was facing Gokudera, whereas her eyes were concentrated on the storm raging outside, and on the reflection of the room where the both of them now stood. “Hmm, so Sawada sent you. Very well. Leave the package on my desk and please leave immediately. I’m sure Sawada still needs you in Namimori. Goodbye.” By Sora’s tone of voice, it was as if she was not pleased to see him, let along see his reflection mirrored on the glass in front of her. It was as if she was sending him away, and so harshly done, too. “Sora…” “It’s ‘Miss Midori’. Nobody calls me by my first name anymore.” “Miss Midori… I-“ Sora’s eyes hovered on the corner, where she tried to see Gokudera from the corner of her eye, but failing to do so. Instead, she focused on his reflection. “If you want to open the package to see what is inside, you could’ve said so. I don’t like people who dawdle too much, so if you have any other business, please accomplish them immediately. I have important matters to attend to.” “Yes. I wanted to ask about something, ‘Miss Midori’. “Hmm…” “What happened to you.” “I became the rightful Boss of Scintilla.” Gokudera sighed. The woman obviously knew about what he was talking about, but she was avoiding the real reason. She was trying to conceal it. Sora’s not the type of girl to miss out that detail. “You know that’s not what I mean.” “I know.” “Then tell me.” The man moved towards Sora, whose back was still the only thing that Gokudera saw. He saw through her, there was some sort of unnoticed tension within her when he bought it up. “There is no need for that. I do not dwell on what I left behind. Now, if there’s anything you need, do it immediately and be gone, if you please.” Gokudera sighed, the case now lost. He exited the office of the Boss of the Scintilla Famiglia and made his way towards his car, to get back to his “Juudaime”. And he knows, he is sure, that from the window of the third floor office, the blond woman was watching him with downcasted eyes. “S-Sora…” The Lightning Guardian entered the room discreetly, the silent concern echoing in her voice. Only Nari has been able to call Sora by her first name in all these years that she chose to never be called “Sora” again. “Nee-chan… It was just as I expected it to be. It was still so vivid, all those memories I wanted to forget. But Scintilla is my concern, now, and nothing must be above it, not even my past.” “You sound like Gokudera ten years ago, Sora.” “I know, nee-chan. But maybe it’s for the best.” But for Gokudera, it was not the best. He knows it was his fault, ten years ago, that Sora turned out like that. Unconsciously, he missed her every radiant smile beamed upon him, her annoying, crazy antics that drove him insane, and her jubilant laughter at his expense. It was bittersweet, these memories, and he wished it never ended. He missed it, he missed it all, and it made him realize. It was not only Tsuna that cared about him. It wasn’t because he was a fellow Guardian that the other Guardians were forced to be friends with him (or so he thinks). He has been blind for too long. He didn’t see how everybody really cared about him, and how she was willing to do anything because she cared about him, too. “DAMNIT!” His hand clenched into a ball of fist on the steering wheel, as he drove towards the borders of Shizuoka. The new Sora, which he has seen for the first time in ten years, was so different. It bothered him, what happened, and what he did, that he pushed his car to its limit, the wheels skidding on the wet road at he made a sudden U-Turn in the middle of the highway, and drove back to the Scintilla Headquarters. “SORA!” Slamming the door of the third-floor office, Gokudera stormed inside. Within the woman’s office was Nari and the woman he was expecting, and it surprised the all, Sora, most of all. Gokudera had the guts to do anything, yes, but for Vongola Decimo. But never did she expect him to do something in his own accord. Gokudera, too, was shocked, but by what he saw. The girl’s innocent features were not gone; her eyes still had that mischievous and playful spark in them, and even if her face has softened to a more mature look, it was still the face of the Sora he knew. And that, right now, he knows that he loved. “Err… I’ll leave now…” Nari crept away, leaving the Vongola Arashi no Shugo sha and the Scintilla Kyuudaime in her own office. Gokudera became what he was, ten years ago: aggressive and annoyingly loud. He forcefully held Sora by her shoulders, his weight pressing down on her, as she felt the anger course within him, and the tension piling up. “Tell me, you damn woman, what the fuck happened to you?” There was hardness in his voice, but Sora didn’t let it get through her. She tried to calm herself down, so her voice would not come out as a scream, and she won’t let herself get carried away. “I knew that you were not worth it, Gokudera. You have so many others for you, and I have Scintilla to take care of.” “Fuck that bullshit, Sora. I know what you are lying or not. Now start telling the fucking truth.” “I woke up from a silly dream, Gokudera. I opened my eyes. By doing so, I knew my full duty and what I left behind was nothing to me. I admit, I loved you. But then the fairy tale ended. I knew you would never love me back, and there are more important things in my life than you, such as my Famiglia. They need me, like I once needed you. Even if I saved you back then, I knew you were never gonna see me. I took my own life to where I should take it: to the Scintilla. It was a dream gone by, Gokudera, and it will never return. ” Gokudera gradually calmed down, but he was still cussing like he really does. “Sora, for all the shit you told me, you couldn’t come out and say that you don’t like me anymore? I know you, Sora, and you know it. Ten years ago, I grew accustomed to you that you were practically a book I could read so easily. Right now, you’re still the same.” “Then say it. You know me, right? Say what I want to say. Take the words out of my mouth, Gokudera, and say it out loud. You know you came too late, Gokudera, and how could you make up the ten-year gap in me?” In an instant, Gokudera caught her by a rough, bruising kiss, which pained the girl, but she found to enjoy. Gokudera will always be the same Ahodera that he is. And with his fourteen-year-old self mixing with the maturity of his twenty-four-year-old self, Sora found herself catching back the feelings for the man that she loved. When Gokudera pulled back, he stared at the girl with a very quipped face, as he tried to hold in his amusement. The woman in front of him was not much different from what she was, ten years ago. “ ‘I love you, Ahodera you sick bastard.’ “ Dazed, Sora couldn’t make out what Gokudera just said to her. “I took the words out of your mouth.” A pout that was so likely of Sora. “You sick philosophic bastard.” A slight laughter echoed in the room, its source was the silver-haired man that read the Scintilla Boss like an essay. “I love you, too, you crazy bitch.” From somewhere outside the office, Nari smiled, as she talked with someone on her cellphone. “Mission accomplished, Tsuna-kun, Yamamoto-kun~.” ![]() Cheers for the epic fail that is me! /cheers Seriously, this was gonna be part of the drabble set, but it got too long and... IT HAZ ANGST. I'm not the best person for holidays, LOL. But srsly, IDK what I did here. This is crack, I tell ya, CRACK. In any case, Tuna-fish's package is a box of random stuff that the trio set up. Nari's "business" is the checking-up of events yadda yadda. And I am officially screwed up. ![]() So, hai. Maia, Le Cheshire Cat, marionette14, Schizophrenia, Midnight Rose, Sasori the Puppeteer. I write stuff, including songs. Feel free to poke me, just not at the eyes. I need those. I r always hungry, so watch out. I might bite you >3 I am artistic, but not inclined to painting. I sketch when I want to, resulting in my short attention span. I compose songs whenever I want to shout out my feelings but I can't. I'm already contented with my latest crush, because he's plainly gorgeous and charming and... I should stop. I'm a Taekwondoin, and I have medals to prove it. I hate it when my broadband goes "Local" on me. I love my Photoshop so much that I neglect GIMP now. Sorry, GIMP. I can sing pop, rock and even rap. Off-key when I have colds, off-key when I like it, but I don't do soprano, only up to mezzo soprano and alto. My senpai is Dei-senpai. They say I'm a good role player, but I still lack skill, or so I tell myself. I already claimed Gokudera Hayato, Hidan, Akasuna no Sasori, Uryuu Ishida, Syusuke Fuji, Death the Kid, Fye D. Flowright/ Fai D. Fluorite, Sebastian Michaelis, Recca Hanabishi, Wolfram von Beielefeld, Colonello, Cloud Strife, Vincent Valentine, and Kadaj. If you have any problems with that, I'll strike you with their arsenal. I created a Twilight character with a low Mary-Sue score, compared with Edward Cullen or Bella Swann. I'm a proud Team Jacob. He has an awesome eight-pack abs. I laugh in the 'Net with "LOLFu", "Nyufufufu" or "Nyahaha". I'm going to a Halloween party as a zombie. |
